The Staples High School Band is an ensemble of wind and percussion instruments that meets as a full-year elective class, typically in Room 465. However, due to the unanticipated size of performing groups, only large band classes meet in the main Band room (small band days in Room 460).

Instructor

Mr. Mariconda conducts all three bands (Freshman, Sophomore and Symphonic), as well as the Staples Jazz Band. James Ranti shows up Mondays through Wednesdays and teaches a portion of the lessons, as well as doing some performances.

Uniforms

The Staples Band, which focuses its attention on concerts rather than marching, dress in regular concert attire for all school concerts. This is (for boys) a white shirt, black pants, black tie, black jacket over shirt, and dark colored shoes. Girls wear all black.

When the Staples Band is performing its secondary role as the Staples Pep-Band and Marching Band, a uniform consisting of a blue polo shirt and cream colored khakis are worn. The blue polo shirt has the Staples Band logo embroidered on the left.

The Staples Marching/Pep-Band may have at one time used a more traditional uniform. Remnants of these uniforms are kept hidden in the same closet that the marching drums are kept in. The termination of the use of these old uniforms may have been due to the Band's focus on being a terrific concert band rather than a full-time marching/pep-band.
