Building K
From Staples High Wiki
Building K is the final phase of the three-story main building of the new school. Construction is finished in this area, and occupation began February 27. It is located along the south end of the campus, with much of it on what was Building Seven.
As of now, only the first and third floors are entirely occupied; only a portion of the wing's second floor is used for classes. Some World Language (including the Language Labs), Social Studies and English use classroms here. Several of the classrooms in this area are still empty, and one room (2065) is now used by Turner Construction Company for its central office. This is due to the lack of a need for this space for now and a lack of classroom furniture.

Construction
The original schedule planned the move into K for September 2005. The reasons for the five-month setback are many deep. The demolitions of Building Seven and Nine were delayed due to issues with the first move. Additionally, unknown pipes and other underground obstacles were dug up during construction, further adding to the setbacks.
Base concrete in the area begun in March 2005, about a month behind original schedule. Steelwork (framing) did not begin until early May. Brickwork was started in August, and finished by November, as cinderblocking was completed at the end of September. As of now, the building is just about complete.
