History
Inklings was started in 1931, and over time has seen many different redesigns of its format. The paper has always been for the purpose of sharing news relating to the school and displaying student achievements. At the start of the 2005-2006 school year, the newspaper began to add color images for the first time.
Change of Page Size, and more Color Pages
Inklings changed its paper size from a tabloid format of 11"x17" to a new, larger format of 12.5"x22.75". The paper will have fewer pages, but it will be more pleasing to the eye, as there is more room for creative layout. The first issue with this new size was released in April of 2007. The Finklings issue of 2007 was the last issue with the tabloid format. Starting with the April 2007 issue, Inklings featured more color pages than in previous issues.
Awards
Inklings has won the Columbia Scholastic Press Association gold medals from 2000-2005 and a silver medal in 1999. The paper has also received the rank of First Place with “Special Honors” from the American Scholastic Press Association since 2001.
