Junker
From Staples High Wiki
Junker is the hostname and nickname of the official Computer Club server. Prior to 2002 there were two separate servers: Junker, which was used mostly for educational purposes, experimentation, and other personal use by members, and Tron, which ran the club's major projects such as Staples Online. They both ran Red Hat Linux. In 2002 Junker and Tron were consolidated, and Junker became the one and only Computer Club server. The newly consolidated server ran NetBSD for about a year, and then Nathan moved it back to Linux, this time choosing Gentoo.
Hardware
Junker is a PIII with a 256K L2 cache running at 800Mhz. The OS of choice is currently Gentoo Linux, kernel version 2.4.31-grsec.
The original Junker ran on a 386 computer donated by Nathan Faber, hence it's name!
Services
Junker serves as the web-server for stapleshigh.net and junker.org. In addition to apache, Junker also runs an SSH server, a DNS server, and a MySQL server.
