What Can I Do?
As this is a wiki, the idea is that everybody contributes a little bit of information, to amass a huge database of knowledge. Therefore, anyone should absolutely feel free to edit almost any page if they see misinformation or wish to just add more to it. Everyone should also take advantage of this wiki's many other features such as talk pages, user pages, and the ability to add news articles. However, there are certain necessary limits as to what can be done.
Why?
With your help the wiki can quickly become a an easy to use, up to date, comprehensive, reliable information on topics relating to Staples.
What Can't I Do?
There is a reason for each of the few rules that you need to follow when using this wiki. First of all, everything you post must be appropriate. By registering on this wiki you agree to abide by the terms of the Acceptable Use Agreement of Staples High School and act appropriately.
The most important things to remember:
- Avoid bias. Articles should be written from a neutral point of view, representing differing views on a subject factually and objectively.
- Don't infringe copyrights. The Staples High Wiki is licensed under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License. Posting copyrighted work without permission is illegal; don't do it.
- Respect other contributors. No personal attacks etc, only good, clean, productive discussion.
- Don't disrupt the wiki to prove a point. Everything you post is immediatly viewable, for testing see the Sandbox
- Do not create pages about current Staples students. User pages are designed to satisfy the need of the students for whom they are designed. Also, do not edit another student's user page without permission from that individual. However, pages about notable Staples graduates are allowed.
- DO NOT VANDALIZE. I am sure some of you editors have toyed around with Wikipedia before and messed up articles; of course on that site you can remain anonymous and it is hard for admins there to track you down. But do not do anything like that here; you will likely be banned immediately, and unlike Wikipedia we know who you are! Any acts of vandalism may easily result in you being pulled out of class by your Grade Level Assistant, brought to a Dean, and given a consequence such as suspension and/or loss of school computer priveleges.
Some Precautions
Keep in mind the following when using the wiki...
- Everything you do is logged. Nothing is anonymous. If you choose to post inappropriate content here, there will be negative consequences.
- Everything you post is subject to change by other persons and the administrators have the final say on what goes.
