South Courtyard
From Staples High Wiki
The South Courtyard was one of the two courtyards of the Old building. It was bordered by Building Eight to the north, Six to the east, Nine to the south, and Seven to the west. It contained a small playground for child development classes, as the Nursery School was located beside it in Building Six. It also contained an area with benches and trees, which often flooded in heavy rains.
In December 2004, the Seven and Nine buildings were closed off for demolition, and as a result the vast majority of the courtyard was fenced off. The only section remaining for students was a walkway that led from the still-open Eight building, beside the Six building and over to the doorway at the south end of Six. After Building Seven was demolished, almost everything in the courtyard that was not fenced off was razed. After February 2005, and the closure of Building Eight, only a small portion of that walkway remained. By the beginning of the 2005-2006 school year, there were no areas of what was formerly the south courtyard remaining open to students.
About half of what was the courtyard is now occupied by Building K, and the rest is parking and walkways.
